Ready when you are.

Private by design. This tool uses your browser’s built-in JSON functions. Your input stays on this device unless you choose to copy or share it.

About JSON Formatter

JSON is often minified before it is sent over a network, which makes a response difficult to inspect by eye. A formatter parses the text and writes it back with consistent whitespace and line breaks. The data stays the same; only its presentation changes.

How to use this tool

  1. Paste or type your content into the input panel.
  2. Choose Format JSON to run the operation in your browser.
  3. Review the result, then use Copy to place it on your clipboard.
Helpful tip: If formatting fails, check the reported line and column. JSON requires double quotes around property names and string values, and it does not allow trailing commas.

Frequently asked questions

Is my JSON uploaded when I use this tool?+

No. The operation runs on this page in your browser. Toolbox does not receive the text you paste into the input area.

Does this check whether my data is correct for my app?+

The tool checks or transforms JSON syntax. It does not know your application’s schema or business rules, so valid JSON can still have missing or unexpected fields.

What syntax does a JSON document allow?+

Standard JSON requires double-quoted strings and property names. It supports objects, arrays, numbers, booleans, and null, but not comments or trailing commas.
